Big news for international events: Ljubljana and New York directly connected again

After 36 years, Ljubljana is getting a direct scheduled connection with New York. From 12 May 2027, United Airlines will connect Newark and Ljubljana four times a week – an important step for Ljubljana’s position as an international meetings and events destination.

For international congresses, conferences and corporate events, accessibility is one of the key factors in destination selection. A direct connection with the New York area makes Ljubljana significantly more accessible to delegates from the US and strengthens its reach across the North American market.

For GR Ljubljana, which welcomes international organisers and delegates throughout the year, this means an even stronger proposition: a centrally located European venue in a compact, well-connected capital now with a direct link to one of the world’s major international hubs.

Ljubljana among United’s new international destinations

Ljubljana is part of United Airlines’ latest international expansion, alongside new routes to destinations including Okinawa, Marseille, Valencia, Ibiza, Sardinia, Sicily, Luxembourg and Toulouse.

The expansion reflects a broader shift in international travel towards destinations beyond Europe’s largest and most established tourism centres. United Airlines has been expanding its international network substantially in recent years, adding 49 destinations since 2021.
